In the Create page, under the Collections tab, clicking on the Create Collection button will take you to the collection creation form.
Collection metadata
Here, you will need to complete the following fields:
- Collection Name: Enter a unique name for your collection.
- Description: Provide a brief description of the collection's purpose and contents.
- Data Source Connection: Select the appropriate data source connection from the dropdown list.
- Source Table: Choose the source table from the selected data source connection.
It is essential to provide a collection name and description that accurately reflect the content. This practice enhances the discoverability of your collection on the web through search engine optimization (SEO) and makes it easier for users of Provably to find relevant collections.
Visibility status
After entering the Name, Description, and Data Source for your collection, it's time to configure the Visibility Status. You can choose between:
- Public - Accessible to all users.
- Limited Access - Accessible only to specific users you invite.
Tabs for Configuring Collection
Depending on the visibility status, you’ll see the following tabs:
- Data Tab (available for both Public and Limited Access collections) - you can view a list of available columns, their count and add them to your collection by hovering over a column and clicking the + icon. Selected columns will appear on the right side of the editor as part of your collection.
- Authorized Users Tab (available only for Limited Access collections) - this tab enables you to specify individual users by email who will have access to your collection. You can use the Invite Users input to add emails. Once added, click Add User to grant these users access immediately—no need for them to accept or decline. Below the input, there’s a table showing all invited users and their access status. The access statuses are as follows:
Joined: The user has an account on Provably and access to the collection.
Not Joined: The user has been added but has not yet created an account on Provably.
Each user in the table has a three-dot icon button with a Remove option, allowing you to revoke their access if needed.
Once you've configured these settings, save the collection to make it available according to your selected visibility and access settings.
